Looks like Shah Rukh Khan got Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s message loud and clear yesterday! Ringing up the prominent political figure late at night, Bollywood’s Badshah not only answered the question of who he was but also seemingly expressed his concern over the protests that took place in the state due to his upcoming movie Pathaan.
SRK rings up Assam’s Chief Minister
Following his controversial comments, Assam’s Chief Minister took to Twitter to inform everyone that he had had a chat with ‘Bollywood actor’ Shah Rukh Khan. “Bollywood actor Shri @iamsrk called me and we talked today morning at 2 am. He expressed concern about an incident in Guwahati during screening of his film. I assured him that it’s duty of state govt to maintain law & order. We’ll enquire and ensure no such untoward incidents,” his tweet read.
In case you missed out, several members of a right-wing outfit allegedly stormed into a cinema hall in Assam’s Narengi on Friday. Vandalising property and burning down posters of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, the group protested the release of the highly awaited movie.
However, when Assam’s CM was asked about the protests, Himanta Biswa Sarma questioned, “Who is Shah Rukh Khan? Why should we care? We already have many Shah Rukh Khans?” and then went on to claim that he had never heard of the movie’s name. The BJP leader further added, ”Khan has not called me, though many from Bollywood do so, regarding the problem. But if he does, I will look into the matter.”
About Pathaan
Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the spy action film marks Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback after a four-year hiatus from full time acting alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Scheduled to hit the big screens on January 25 next year, King Khan recently shared that he was dying to do a movie where he was the ‘badass guy.’
