‘I’m standing on the shoulders of soooo many…’
Taking to her social media handle, the actor posted a long note to share how it’s not solely her victory and there are innumerable people uplifting her every day. Starting the note, she wrote, “This recognition and award was completely unexpected but also a sweet end to my stay here in London. I spoke about how if there is one ‘adjective’ I am uncomfortable with is when I am called a ‘self made’ woman.”
She went on, “I have been blessed to have had the family I have, the friends I grew up with and those I made along the way.. my life, the ups and downs, some very special colleagues and coworkers who have supported me and played a vital role in where I am today. Those before me who paved the way for me to get here. My fans and ohhh the kindness of strangers! Alhumdulillah. So yeah.. one may not be able to see it, but if you look closely I’m not alone, I’m standing on the shoulders of soooo many 🙏🏼”
Further highlighting it feels special to be at the receiving end of so many blessings, she wrote, “Also.. I was speaking to someone the other day and I heard myself say to her – you’re lucky you’ve been chosen, act like it. It applies to all of us really in all aspects of our lives. I have been chosen by God out of millions to be in the position I am in and I must act like it. Must pay it forward. Give back. Open doors for others. Work hard – honestly and humbly (yes this is note to self ). InshAllah.”
She ended the note by thanking UK Parliament and others for the honour. “I’m humbled. And very grateful. Oh I must add.. it is Not a lifetime achievement award, that too shall happen but I’m not hanging up my boots yet.”
Fans Are Not Happy!
After pictures from the ceremony surfaced on the internet, fans flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages. However, there was a section which was not happy with Mahira’s recognition at a global level. Netizens raised questions about her contribution to Pakistan’s society and more. People questioned, “What has she done for humanity or Pakistan?” , “For what???😂😂😂 what has she done for the betterment of the people of Pakistan?? What a joke ?”, “For what…??? Cultural Ambassador..look at her, is this Pakistan culture. They need to open their mouth for human rights violations in Pakistan rather than receiving awards for nothing.” Mahira was also criticised for her poor styling and wrong choice of clothes for a prestigious event like this.
