As the controversy around slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ raised during a protest by the Popular Front of India (PFI) in Pune grows, RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari weighed in on the same. “Pakistan zindabad slogans are just a part of a protest but that doesn’t mean those raising such slogans become Pakistani and will go to Pakistan,” he said.
Notably, a video of protestors raising slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ during an agitation held by PFI in Pune surfaced on social media. The PFI staged a protest in Pune against the nationwide raids conducted by the NIA on Thursday which resulted in the arrest of more than 100 activists of the outfit.
“Case registered under sections of rioting and for blocking the roads at Bund Garden PS. Probe underway pertaining to videos that went viral. Stringent action to be taken against culprits,” informed DCP Sagar Patil.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also reacted to reports of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans raised during protests in support of PFI in Pune and said that the perpetrators will not be spared. “If anyone raises slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in Maharashtra and in the country, we will not spare such people and action will be taken,” he said while talking to reporters.
“To all those shouting Pakistan Zindabad slogans in support of PFI in Pune.. Chun chun ke marenge.. Itna yaad rakana!!! #BanPfi” a tweet by BJP Maharashtra MLA Nitesh Rane said.
Notably, the NIA and ED on Thursday conducted searches nationwide at the premises of groups, including PFI, and individuals involved in terror-related activities. The raids were termed as the ‘largest-ever investigation process till date.’
