A BSF personnel on Wednesday was severely injured when Pakistani troops fired at the Indian Border without any provocation. This act by the neighboring country’s soldiers broke the ceasefire agreement.
BSF Personnel Injured In Firing By Pakistan
“At 2:35 AM, there was firing from across the border in the Akhnoor area.” The BSF responded appropriately to the firing. Due to the Pakistani firing, one BSF personnel was injured,” the spokesperson of the border guarding force said.
He also said that the troops are very alert and watching closely along the International Border and Line of Control.
Ceasefire Violation Occurs Days Before Assembly Elections
The truce has been more or less effective since its re-implementation on February 25, 2021, with no serious incident of ceasefire violation between the two countries taking place. In the first such incident in over three years, on June 3, last year a BSF jawan was killed by the firing from Pakistan Rangers in the Ramgarh area of the Samba district. The latest break in the ceasefire comes only days before the first part of three-part assembly elections, which are scheduled for September 18. The second and third parts are scheduled for September 25 and October 1, respectively.
