officials reported finding the bullet-riddled bodies of five people hanging from an electric pole in southwestern Pakistan. The bodies were discovered early in the morning near a college in Dalbandin city, Balochistan province, close to the Afghanistan and Iran borders, where militant groups have been engaged in a violent insurgency.
“A senior government official, Attiq Shahwani, stated that five bullet-riddled bodies were discovered hanging from an electric pylon,” according to AFP.
Bodies Of Five Men Found Hanging In Pakistan, Likely Killed In Militant Violence
“The bodies have been moved to a local hospital, where doctors confirmed that the men died from multiple bullet wounds, primarily in the chest,” he said. He mentioned that the men were likely killed on Thursday. No missing persons reports were filed with the local police, and the identities of the men have not yet been determined.
Balochistan, the least populated province in Pakistan, hosts several militant groups. Some of these groups are fighting for independence or a larger share of the region’s mineral wealth, often targeting security forces with bomb attacks. Islamist groups are also responsible for sectarian violence in the area.
