Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the “amazing response” to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, which started across the country to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, saying he was “overjoyed and proud.”
“Overjoyed and proud of the amazing response to the Har Ghar Tiranga movement. We are seeing record participation from people across different walks of life. This is a great way to mark Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” the prime minister tweeted.
He further urged people to share their photos with tricolour on the official website of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement.
According to the website, more than two crore selfies have been uploaded to the website so far.
The prime minister also shared glimpses of celebrations held at several places across the country under the campaign.
“I appreciate these youngsters who have supported the Har Ghar Tiranga movement,” said PM Modi while sharing the video clip of children celebrating the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at Leh and Ladakh.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi highlighted the strength of the national flag and its significance in the safe evacuation of students from war-torn Ukraine, while interacting with all medal winners of the Commonwealth 2022 games at his official residence in New Delhi.
“What is the power of the tricolour, we have seen this in Ukraine some time ago. The tricolour had become a protective shield not only for Indians but also for people of other countries in coming out of the battlefield,” the PM said while addressing the athletes.
The BJP-led central government has envisaged ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to encourage people to bring the Tricolor home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence between August 13 and 15.
‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is an initiative of the Centre to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.
