West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s firebrand leader Mithun Chakraborty has once again made a big claim. He said that more than 21 Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders are in touch with him.
“I am still saying that more than 21 TMC MLAs are in touch with me. I don’t speak without proof and will reveal more when the time is right,” Chakraborty told ANI.
The actor-turned-politician said he was not afraid of defeat but wanted the elections to be held freely without any violence.
“We are not afraid of defeat, but want elections to be done freely without violence. From three seats, we reached 77 seats (in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly Election). Yes, we didn’t win, but we performed very well,” said Chakraborty.
Chakraborty hit out at the TMC, saying “nothing is permanent” and a political change in West Bengal was inevitable.
The BJP leader said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and General Secretary BL Santosh have told Bengal BJP workers and leaders to keep working hard in the state.
He further said that only a “movement” can curb the alleged “corrupt situation” in the state.
The BJP leader further said that the state of Tripura has made ‘incredible development’ in the last five years.
He also took a jibe at not being invited to the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).
“I wasn’t invited to the Kolkata International Film Festival, but what does it matter? I was invited as a guest of honour to another International Film Festival after seven days, but I couldn’t go because I didn’t have time,” he said.
