Congress leader Rahul Gandhi trained guns at the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS, and accused them of “capturing” the Constitution.
He also recalled his interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the National Herald case and termed it a “medal”.
While addressing a gathering, the Wayanad MP said, “Our constitution is being captured by BJP and RSS. The voice of people is being crushed. But we aren’t scared, we won’t let them destroy the fabric of the country.”
“We don’t believe in violence that they do. They are also attacking the country’s economic backbone,” he added.
Talking about his ED interrogation, Rahul Gandhi said, “When I was interrogated for five days, I wondered why they interrogated for five days and not for 10 days… I view my five days of interrogation as a medal.”
“I hope they will do it again… Centre won’t use CBI, ED against Kerala CM because BJP and CPM have an understanding,” he claimed.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for describing the MGNREGA scheme as one of the “living monuments of the failures” of the Congress-led UPA.
He said the PM had not understood the depth of the mass employment scheme and he did know how it has transformed the labour market of the country and how it became the last resort and huge protection for lakhs of people.
As the economy of the country was crippled due to demonetisation and “faulty” implementation of the GST, the scheme has become even more important now to protect the livelihood of the common people, the Wayanad MP said.
