Odisha won the most medals at the IndiaSkills 2021 National Competition organised by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in New Delhi from January 7 to January 9. Odisha topped the tally with 51 medals followed by Maharashtra with 30, and Kerala with 25. Odisha also won 10 gold medals, 18 silver, 9 bronze and 14 medallions in the country’s biggest skill development competition.
There were 54 categories in the closed-door competition included such as visual merchandising, graphic design technology, wall and floor tiling, welding, health and social care, car painting, beauty therapy, and construction work.
Out of a total of 150 winners, 59 were gold medals which carried a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, 73 were silver medals which carried a cash prize of Rs 75,000 and 53 received Bronze medals carrying a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each. Overall 14 participants won medallion of excellence.
According to a Times of India report, the winners of the IndiaSkills 2021 will get a chance to represent the country at WorldSkills International Competition to be held in Shanghai in October 2022.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik shared the development with his Twitter followers on Tuesday. He said his state will send the largest contigent from all Indian states to WorldSkills Shanghai.
