Pakistan again faced a shocking defeat by 84 runs against New Zealand in the second ODI of three match ODI series. Batting first New Zealand had set a target of 292/8 but, Pakistan witnessed a complete batting collapse and were all out at the score of 208 in 41.2 overs.
Mohammad Rizwan opened up after the defeat post-match and shockingly mentioned that Pakistan didn’t know about the pitch conditions and also said that it was quite challenging.
“It is sore but it part of the game. We didn’t do well as a batting group…didn’t utilize the swing…Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah fought really well. It’s little bit challenging conditions; the pace and bounce, different from Asian conditions but we shouldn’t make excuses as professional cricketers and apply ourselves. New Zealand cricketers are disciplined and hit the hard lengths consistently. We are losing in key moments in last couple of months. Credit to Mitch Hay, the way he batted was amazing. We don’t know much about the pitch in Tauranga. We will look at the conditions and do what the conditions demand from us (for the next game)” Rizwan said in post-match presentation
Babar Azam again disappointed as he was dismissed at the score of 1. While Ben Sears from New Zealand registered his name as the best bowler, he took a five-wicket haul and completely ripped apart Pakistan’s batting lineup.
