The Nitish Kumar government hiked the allowance under the Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme from Rs 10,000 to Rs 2 lakh.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on his official X handle, stating that his government launched the ‘Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana’ to empower women of Bihar and make them self-reliant.
“I am pleased to inform you that action has been initiated to provide additional financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh to the selected beneficiaries under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana. This amount will be credited in a phased manner, provided that beneficiaries have utilized the earlier amount for employment,” the Chief Minister wrote on X.
“If the business is running well, a lump sum amount can also be provided as per requirement,” Kumar added.
Kumar said departments have been directed to ensure proper arrangements for the marketing of goods produced by the beneficiaries of the scheme, and plans in works to link the beneficiaries to other government departments involved in garment manufacturing, Sudha sales centers, Didi ki Rasoi, etc.
Who is eligible for additional assistance?
The chief minister said the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana aims to provide financial assistance to women for generating self-employment via entrepreneurial ventures.
In the first phase, more than 1.56 crore beneficiaries were credited Rs 10,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), and the scheme has a provision for providing additional financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh, after a 6-month assessment of businesses started with the initial capital, Kumar said.
