Rumours were rife that acclaimed filmmaker Shyam Benegal’s health has deteriorated. Reports claimed that the National Award-winning director’s both kidneys have failed and he is undergoing dialysis at home. His daughter Pia Benegal has called the information ‘incorrect’.
Pia Benegal rubbishes reports
“All the information and material online is wrong,” the noted filmmaker’s daughter Pia told Hindustan Times. When asked if he is doing okay, she responded, “It is none of your business right now. He will be hale and hearty in a few days.”
Pia Benegal also reacted to the reports of his 88-year-old father undergoing dialysis at home. Multiple reports stated that because of his ill health and age, Shyam Benegal is unable to go to the hospital. Reacting to this, she said, “Doctors are coming to the house, he is getting dialysis at home, that he is so ill that he cannot go to the hospital, all are incorrect information.”

His daughter didn’t share details about his health condition but said that he is doing fine. Pia added that her father will soon resume work. She also said that he just needs a break. “At the age of 88, it is time to retire, don’t you think? You shall hear more updates soon,” she said.
