Delhi-NCR residents who struggle daily with traffic jams and long travel hours have received major good news. The route for the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail corridor from Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport has been officially finalised. This high-speed rail project is expected to change the way people travel across the region and provide fast, modern connectivity to key areas.
The new corridor will not just connect Ghaziabad to Jewar Airport, but will also link important areas such as Greater Noida West, Surajpur and Kasna. Officials say that within the next five years, travel between Delhi, Gurugram and Noida International Airport will become much faster and smoother.
The route and station plan were finalised during a meeting between the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The proposal has now been sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which will decide the financial model and give final approval.
The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 20,360.25 crore. Once construction begins, the corridor is expected to be completed in around five years.
The corridor will be 72.44 km long and will run from Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport. There will be 22 stations in total, with 11 rapid rail stations and 11 metro stations. A 1.1 km stretch inside the airport will be underground. The project also includes a 14.2 km LRT line from Film City to the airport.
Surajpur will be developed as a major junction, connecting routes towards Gurugram, Faridabad and Noida. This will allow passengers to travel easily between IGI Airport and Noida International Airport.
