The 700-km long Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, popularly known as Samruddhi Mahamarg, to be operational by the end of this year. The 76-km stretch of the expressway, from lgatpuri in Nashik to Aamne in Thane is likely to get completed soon.
This will cut time duration and will offer seamless travel between Mumbai and Nagpur. The Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway has already witnessed 625 km of its stretch opened to the traffic.
Mumbai-Nagpur Project was launched in the year 2015. This project costs Rupees 55,000 crore and will reduce almost half of the time. This saves time of commuters. This project is the second major project in Maharashtra after the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway project will pass through 390 villages and 10 districts. The 10 major districts that the expressway will pass through includes, Nagpur, Wardha, Buldhana, Jalna, Aurangabad, Nashik, Ahmednagar and Thane. This project connects 14 additional districts.
The feature which makes this expressway unique is that it is helipad facilitated. This includes landing area which accommodates landing of four helicopters simultaneously.
The new project includes 65 flyovers, 33 major bridges,274 minor bridges, 8 rail overpasses, 6 tunnels, 25 interchanges and 189 underpasses.
The project link to several major tourist destination in Maharashtra, such as Shirdi, Bibi Ka Maqbara, Sula Vineyard, Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary, Pench National Park etc.
The project key features includes
`1. Massive Reach: This expressway passes though 10 districts and connects 390 villages, which connects a huge area. This provides a major link between Mumbai and Nagpur.
2. Time: The project cuts down the time of travel. It reduces time from 16 hours to 7 hours.
3. Helipad Facilities: The project includes designed helipads which can accommodate landing of four helicopters simultaneously.
4. Employment: This news project will generate employment in many terms.
