It is now high time for the bowling coach newly appointed for the South African team, Morne Morkel, as his first workout with the team is scheduled tomorrow in Gwalior, ahead of the T20I series against Bangladesh. Hardik-the all-rounder-perfected his bowling techniques on the first day of the workout session.
However, the bowling coach, Morkel, was worried about how Hardik approached bowling, being too short of the stump. A wordy chat was needed between them to sort out the needed changes.
According to sources, Morkel, who is never known to be a chatty man, keeps instructing Hardik during the entire session. He explained that the key ingredient to his success in this match was his run-up and release point while he was bowling at Hardik in his shadow practice. When Morkel started working with Pandya, he began dealing with left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh and debutants Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav for the T20I against South Africa.
Having come out successful with a 2-0 series win over Bangladesh, it is time to shift focus to the three-match T20I series that starts on Sunday. Excited young talents like Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav are all set to do the same thing again as they did in IPL after gaining the trust of the BCCI selection committee.
And there are others too-like Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, and Nitish Kumar Reddy looking to make the most of the opportunity that comes their way. This series is a good opportunity for mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy who hasn’t played in the T20I side for quite a long time.
Here is India’s T20 squad for the series: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jitesh Sharma (wicket-keeper), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Mayank Yadav.
