Mohanlal’s most awaited film, L2: Empuraan which is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran has already made history even before hitting the big screen.
The film has broken the previous records of other Malayalam movie which is none other than ‘Manjummel Boys’ because of its massive advance bookings.
As per the reports, L2: Empuraan has recently collected a whopping Rs. 4.07 crore in advance bookings across India, selling over 2.60 lakh tickets till now. Even without counting every seats, the total stands at Rs. 3.87 crore, nearly touching the first-day collection of Manjummel Boys which was Rs. 3.9 crore.
Will It Beat Other Big Openers?
The biggest opening day record for a Malayalam film currently belongs to Prithviraj’s The Goat Life, with Rs. 8.75 crore. However, the all-time biggest Day 1 opening from Kerala is Leo: Bloody Sweet, which stars Thalapathy Vijay which earned around Rs. 12 crore.
With such impressive numbers in advance bookings Empuraan is expected to beat this record.
Manjummel Boys became the biggest Malayalam hit in early 2024 crossing Rs. 141 crore worldwide. The film’s unexpected success shocked the industry, but Empuraan, with the star power of Mohanlal and Prithviraj, seems ready to set new records.
