Ahead of upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Narendra Modi became the prime minister for the second time because of the blessings of 22 crore people of Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a rally in UP’s Sant Kabir Nagar, the Union Home Minister said, “If the BJP has formed the government at the Centre and Modi Ji is the Prime Minister today for the second time, it is only because of the blessing of the 22 crore people of Uttar Pradesh.”
Shah lauded Cheif Minister Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state claiming that there has been a reduction in the number of children dying from encephalitis in the eastern UP.
“Hundreds of children from poor families died of encephalitis in the eastern UP. BJP Govt ensured cleanliness, clean drinking water, and set up treatment centres, paediatric and ICU wards, which led to the reduction in such deaths by 95 per cent,” he said.
Earlier today, Shah offered prayers at Hanuman Garhi temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. Campaigning for the ruling BJP, Shah is addressing the public meetings during the party’s Jan Vishwas Yatra today.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh BJP had stated that the Union Home Minister will visit the Hanumangarhi temple (in Ayodhya) on Friday at 10.30 am, and then will have a ‘darshan’ of Ram Lalla at 11 am. After this, at around 11.30 am, he will address a public meeting.
At 1.00 pm, Shah will address a public meeting in Sant Kabir Nagar. The Union minister is scheduled to hold a roadshow in Bareilly at 3.30 pm, and then address a public meeting in Bareilly at 5 pm.
UP polls to be held in Feb-Mar 2022
The elections will be held to elect 403 members of the Legislative Assembly in Uttar Pradesh in the month of February to March 2022. The main contest will be between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP).
In the last assembly polls in the state, the saffron party bagged 312 seats, while SP won 47 seats, Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) 19 and Congress could manage to win only seven seats. The rest of the seats were bagged by other candidates.
