Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is very likely to miss out from the IND vs AUS 2nd Test to begin from December 6 at the Adelaide Oval ground in Adelaide. Marsh has struggled with injuries in the past few months and same was revealed by Australian captain Pat Cummins. Cummins had stated tat Marsh has been battling with niggles since the UK tour. As per a report by News Corp, Cricket Australia have included 30-year old all-rounder Beau Webster as a replacement of Marsh and is expected to make his debut during the IND vs AUS 2nd Test set to be played at the Adelaide Oval ground in Adelaide.
As quoted by Fox Sports, Pat Cummins said in the post match press-conference, “He (has been) battling a couple of little niggles since the UK tour. “So the main thing is he’s in there as one of the top six batters in the country and bowling is a bonus. He was a little bit sore towards the end of this Test match. In the next 10 days, chance to freshen up try and get it right. We’ll see how he goes. Ideally, he would be able to bowl in each Test match.”
There is more than 10 days gap between the first and the second Test match set to be played in Adelaide. Mitchell Marsh displayed a decent performance with both bat and ball during the 1st Test match against Australia. However, Marsh has not been able to handle both the batting and bowling pressure due to which he has sustained injuries.
On the other hand, Beau Webster has played a total of 93 first-class matches as of now for Tasmania and has ended up scoring 5,297 runs at an average of 37.83 with 12 hundreds. The latter has also taken 148 wickets at an average of 37.39 and can bowl both off spin and pace bowling.
