Method, madness, and courage: Ravichandran Ashwin explains his success mantra ahead of vital RR-RCB clash

Rajasthan Royals have had a successful campaign in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) so far and have been one of the most consistent sides in the tournament. They will look to seal their place in the big final when they face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the second qualifier (Q2) on Friday (May 27) at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
One of the key reasons behind RR’s extraordinary success in IPL 2022 has been Ravichandran Ashwin. The veteran Indian cricketer has been ever-reliable with the ball for Sanju Samson & Co. but also put in some very important knocks with the bat for the 2008 champions.
Ahead of the big clash vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, Ashwin opened up about his success formula and explained ‘Method, Madness, and courage’ as his cricketing philosophy that helps him excel on the ground.
“Method, madness and courage. Those are three words that I will put myself under. What I have done in my life is also based on all these three lines and whatever I end up doing from now on will also be on those three lines,” said Ashwin in a video posted by Rajasthan Royals on social media.
“I have always believed there has been a method to my madness. That madness is more of a perception for people that are looking at me and watching me. ‘What is he doing? Why is he doing all this? Why is he trying so many things? It is a matter of perception,” he added.
Ashwin further explained he is not too bothered by what others think about his style and asserted that he has gone about his business on his own terms. “For me I have never bothered about what someone else has to think about me because I have believed firmly that I should succeed or fail on my own terms,” explained Ashwin.
So far in the 2022 IPL, Ashwin has 11 wickets in 15 matches to his name. He has also scored 185 runs at an average of 30.83 and strike-rate of 146.83.
