Marvel’s Ant-Man Paul Rudd has finally quashed a Marvel theory that involved his character and supervillain Thanos from Avengers. A video featuring Scott aka Ant Man (Paul Rudd0 and Hope van Dyne aka The Wasp (Evangeline Lily) is doing the rounds, where the fan theory that Ant-Man could have climbed up Thanos (Josh Brolin)’s buttock and then gotten big again, therefore exploding the innards of the supervillain.
In the video, Rudd, as Scott says in the video, “Hi, I’m Scott Lang, but you might know me as Ant-Man… Look, before we start, let me address the elephant in the room. There’s a lot of chatter out there asking why I didn’t shrink down, go in and uh… kill Thanos in a really creative way..” He goes on to add, “First of all: gross. Secondly, it’s much more complicated than that. Along me to explain — ” lilly’s Hope cuts in, “If only we had the time!”
The brand new interactive movie features Ant-Man and the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) fighting against Ultron (Ross Marquand) with the help of some of their Avenger friends, including Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Miss Marvel (Iman Vellani), and Captain America (Anthony Mackie).
Notably, the story happens in a timeline where Thanos’ Snap never happened, which means that the Quantum Encounter is not a part of the MCU canon, but rather is a part of the larger Multiverse.
Hope van Dyne and Scott Lang will show up again in the main MCU timeline when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters next year.
The film wrapped production last year and is now set to release on Febraury 17, 2023. The film will also bring back Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer while Johnathan Majors, Kathryn Newton and Bill Murray will join the cast.
