Benchmark indices ended a volatile session on 31stOctober on a positive note on the back of positive global cues. From the start of the session, all indices witnessed strength. Sensex ended the session in the green up around 786 points to close at 60,746, up ~1.3%. Nifty advanced 225 points to close at 18.012, up 1.3%.
Nifty gained 5,3% MTD which was the biggest monthly gain since July 2022. About 1,854 shares have advanced, 1,693 shares declined, and 172 shares remained unchanged. 147 stocks hit their 52-week high
Ultratech Cement was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 index up 4% followed by Eicher Motors up ~3%. Apollo Hospital was down 1.2% and was the top loser in Nifty followed by Dr.Reddy, down 0.7%. Over 80% of Nifty constituents advanced today. Karur Vysya, Max Health, Trent, Cummins India, and Indian Bank were a few stocks that hit their 52-week high today. While Gland Pharma, Intellect, Delhivery, and Chem Plast were a few stocks that hit their 52-week low.
Nifty outperformed broader indices today and also outperformed broader indices on a monthly basis.
All sectoral indices advanced today.
Nifty Bank advanced 317 points to the end of the day at 41,307.AU Bank and HDFC Bank were the top two gainers in the sector today. The Nifty Bank gained 6.9% MTD which was the biggest monthly gain since July 2022.
Nifty PSU Bank Index was the top sectoral gainer on an MTD basis and was up 15.7%. Nifty Auto Index was the second-best performing sector MTD basis up 6.4%.
Nifty IT and AUTO Index were the top performing sectoral Index today and they ended the session up ~1.5%. All constituents in the Index advanced today.
Nifty Pharma Index was up 1.3% and the top gainers in the Index were AURO Pharma and Torrent Pharma.
Nifty Metal Index was the worst-performing sector and ended the day up 0.2%. Vedanta and Hind Copper were the top losers in the Index.
Nifty FMCG Index was the top loser MTD basis down 0.5% where it snapped its three-month gaining streak.
