After a sharp fall the share Market opens in the green today. The BSE Sensex gained 535.15 points or 1.01 per cent to 53,465.46 in the opening session, while the NSE Nifty jumped 157.95 points or 1.00 per cent to 15,965.95.
The gainers on the Sensex pack included Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Titan, Mahindra and Mahindra, Dr Reddy, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance and ITC. In contrast, the top drags were UltraCemo, TCS, Bharti Airtel, LT and NTPC.
Likewise, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, Adani Ports and Eicher Motors were the top gainers on the Nifty. While Bharti Airtel, UltraCemco, and Asian Paint were the top drags.
Domestic benchmark indexes closed with sharp cuts on Thursday, both Sensex and Nifty ended lower for a consecutive fifth day on Thursday; investors in BSE universe companies lost Rs 19 lakh crore in the last five sessions.
The 30-share Sensex finished the day at 52,930 levels, slipping almost 1160 points or 2.14% from its previous close while the broader CNX Nifty50 gauge shut shop at 15,808, eroding almost 360 points or 2.22% from Wednesday’s closing levels.
The havoc in benchmarks was only topped by broader markets where the Nifty MidCap 100 and the Nifty SmallCap 100 shed 1.8-2.33% during the day. The Nifty Midcap index declined 7.5% in the last five sessions while Nifty Midcap lost 15% in the last 9 trading sessions.
Rain Ind, RBL Bank, Federal Bank, IRCTC, IDFC First & Voda Idea were the top midcap losers of the day.
Among sectors, Bank Nifty which managed to duck the sell-off in the last two days, also succumbed to selling pressure a day later. On Thursday, it closed at its lowest level since March 7.
