Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism has been widely criticised across the world. The country often faces setbacks whenever it carries out terrorist activities in India or abroad. It suffered two major losses that will impact the morale of its terror outfits and leave them weakened. One happened in Punjab province where India’s most wanted and internationally designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed’s key aide was shot dead and the other happened in Balochistan where Pakistani army convoy was attacked and brutally killed.

Hafiz Saeed’s Key Aide Shot dead in Punjab

The 28-year-old Sheikh Muaz Mujahid was a key member of Hafiz Saeed’s LeT Terror Group. He received bullet injuries during a crossfire between two rival groups in Kot Radha Kishan, which is about 60 kilometers from Lahore. Punjab police claim the killing occurred in a shootout between two groups. A police case was registered by Muaz’s father against 20 people. However, Punjab police denied any links with Hafiz Saeed.

Pakistan’s Army attacked in Balochistan

On the same day, fighters from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) attacked a Pakistani army convoy in the Kalat district of Balochistan province. It was one of the deadliest attacks on Pakistan in recent months. The army vehicles were moving through the hilly area when BLA fighters surrounded them and opened fire from all directions.

The terrorists first used rocket-propelled grenades to attack and then started shooting with sniper guns. The Pakistani army faced huge losses during the 50-minute fight. Two military vehicles were completely burned. Nine soldiers, including two Special Service Group (SSG) commandos, died on the spot. Several others were seriously injured.

Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA)

According to local reports, the BLA had made elaborate preparations for the attack. In order to prevent from retaliating the militants launched their attack from high altitudes. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) often attacks to protest against Pakistan for using Balochistan’s resources unfairly and for the violence by its army. The BLA has been fighting for Balochistan’s independence for many years. It has also attacked places linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project several times. This recent attack shows that Pakistan’s security forces have failed to stop the rebellion in the area.
