At a time when disagreement within the opposition alliance MVA in Maharashtra is deepening, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has made big remarks on seat-sharing for the upcoming Maharashtra election 2024. When asked whether Congress would be ready to compromise some of its seats for its other allies in the coalition, Raut said, “This is not about sacrifice, but national interest and Maharashtra’s interest. We had indeed shown big-heartedness (during seat sharing for Lok Sabha elections) because we had to defeat enemies of the Constitution. Today, we have to remove a corrupt Government in Maharashtra from power.”
Raut further stated that there is nothing about the delay by Congress and the matter will be finalised this evening. While speaking to the media, he said, “Congress high command is located in Delhi, and their decisions are made there. BJP and Shinde faction leaders are also in Delhi. Whoever has their high command in Delhi needs to go there time and again. What can we do about it? But I think we will overcome the few differences and sit together to decide.”
Raut also addressed concerns on Maharashtra Congress leaders, stating that every party feels that their workers should be fielded as candidates, however, this is an alliance. He asserted, “Everybody has the right to speak of their role but when it comes to seat sharing, a few sacrifices have to be made, everyone needs to take a step back.”
