‘Liquor policy should come in our favour or….’: Uma Bharti’s open threat

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti, who is on a temple strike seeking stringent liquor policy, today issued an open threat and warned of serious repercussions if appropriate amendments are not made.
Uma Bharti had on Saturday reached a temple in Bhopal where she would stay put till January 31. Bharti has been demanding appropriate amendments in the annual liquor policy and incorporating more controls to promote de-addiction
While speaking at the temple, Uma Bharti said that if the liquor policy does not come as per their demands, nobody will be able to stop what happens next.
She further said that cops were afraid that she might do something mischievous or set things ablaze. Uma Bharti assured that she will not do anything if the liquor policy is made as per the demands. However, she also warned that if the demands are not met, there will be serious repercussions.
“It will serve as an example to tell what happens when voices of people are not heard in a democracy,” Uma Bharti warned.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised Uma Bharti and assured that the new policy will discourage drug abuse.
“She works towards a mission and I respect her. We will bring a liquor policy which will discourage drug abuse. There should be such people in society, who take the responsibility of taking the society towards a right direction and work for the society,” said Shivraj Singh Chouhan while speaking about Uma Bharti.
Earlier, Uma Bharti told reporters that if a “controlled liquor policy” is implemented, the ruling BJP will repeat its record victory like 2003. She had earlier opposed the wine shop located near the temple.
“I have never demanded absolute prohibition. I said I would implement a total prohibition if it is in my control. I have full faith in Shivraj ji (MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan). I will wait for the decision about the liquor policy on January 31,” she had said.
The Madhya Pradesh government has not announced any date, but a new liquor policy is generally announced in January-end.
