Team India captain Rohit Sharma is all set to lead the Men In Blue at the Asia Cup 2022. Sharing a special message for fans and followers of the game, the Indian skipper and veteran opener urged the Men In Blue faithful to rally behind their team in the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup. Former champions Sri Lanka will host the 15th edition of the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this month.
On Thursday, Indian skipper Rohit featured in a promotional video of the Asia Cup titled “Mission Asia par Chhana Hai”. In the special video, Rohit said that there’s no greater pride than hearing 140 crore of fans getting behind the Indian team with “India, India” chants at the stadium. “Winning the Asia Cup 7 times. Being the No.1 team. Creating new world records. But there’s no greater pride than hearing 140 crore of fans chanting- “India, India”. So come with this pride let’s take the world but before that let’s conquer Asia,” Rohit said in the video.
Rohit is currently leading the T20I side of the Asian giants in the five-match series against the West Indies. Under the leadership of the talismanic batter, India will hope to defend its crown in the 15th edition of the Asia Cup. The elite tournament is set to begin on August 27 with hosts Sri Lanka playing against Afghanistan in the tournament opener. Defending champions India will meet arch-rivals Pakistan in its campaign opener of the Asia Cup 2022
Team India’s mouthwatering clash with Pakistan will be their first meeting against the bitter rivals in the international arena after the 2021 World Cup. India will renew its rivalry on August 28 in Dubai. The summit clash of the Asia Cup will be played on September 11. India had retained the Asia Cup trophy when the tournament was last played in 2018.
