Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said it carried out missile and drone strikes on several US military bases across West Asia as part of the 51st wave of its ongoing Operation True Promise 4, describing the attacks as retaliation for continued American-Israeli military actions.
According to the IRGC, one of the key targets was the Al Kharj Air Base in Saudi Arabia, which Iranian officials claim has served as an “origin of aggressions against the Islamic homeland.” State media reported that the facility has functioned as a critical staging ground for US F-35 and F-16 fighter jets involved in recent operations against Iranian territory.
The base is also believed to house fuel supply aircraft and serve as a primary hub for American Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) surveillance planes, underscoring its strategic importance.
Iranian authorities further said that simultaneous operations conducted by the IRGC’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters formed part of a broader offensive that targeted several other US military installations across the region. These locations reportedly included the Al Dhafra Air Base and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, Jufair in Bahrain, Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and the Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan. The IRGC also claimed to have engaged Israeli early-warning radar systems that it described as serving as defensive shields.
A spokesperson said the strikes were carried out by the IRGC Aerospace Force using explosive and precision-guided drones. The official added that Iranian forces would continue tracking US military positions in the region and conduct further operations based on intelligence assessments.
Meanwhile, the Iranian military signalled that there would be no let-up in military action against US forces, stating that “after gathering intelligence, they will precisely target every single American [force] in the region.”
West Asia war
Now in its 16th day, the Iran-US-Israel war has caused widespread destruction across the region. Iranian state media and the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs report more than 2,000 casualties, most of them in Iran, including over 1,300 civilians.
The current escalation began after Israel and the United States reportedly carried out a joint strike on Iran on February 28, which Iranian sources claim killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with several senior officials.
In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting US military installations and strategic facilities across West Asia, including in Iraq, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Iranian authorities later indicated they would halt strikes on neighbouring states if their territories were not used for further attacks on Iran.
Separately, Iran’s state broadcaster Press TV reported that the IRGC’s Public Relations department had accused the United States and Israel of shifting their focus to attacks on civilian industries after failing to overcome Iran’s armed forces. Iranian officials said that over the past 48 hours, several factories had been hit, resulting in casualties among workers.
According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, more than 24,500 civilian structures have been damaged in US and Israeli bombardment. These include nearly 20,000 homes, 4,500 businesses and 69 schools, with at least 154 people reported dead and hundreds of students and teachers injured.
