Lata Mangeshkar tests Covid positive; 92-year-old singer admitted to ICU

In an unfortunate series of events, legendary singer and well-known Bollywood personality Lata Mangeshkar has tested positive for COVID-19. The veteran singer is 92 and has been admitted to the ICU in Mumbai. The ace singer’s niece, Rachna confirmed the same to ANI that she is experiencing mild symptoms.

Rachna further added that the singer is doing fine and has been kept in the Intensive Care Unit at at The Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for precautionary reasons, considering her age. Richa requested fans and netizens to respect the privacy of the family during such challenging times. “Keep Didi in your prayers,” she said.

Mangeshkar was earlier admitted to the hospital in November 2019 owing to her bad health and after she complained of breathing problems. During the same time, Mangeshkar’s younger sister Usha had revealed that the singer had reportedly contracted a viral infection.

The singer celebrated her 92nd birthday in September last year. Her birthday was a super intimate affair amid the presence of family and loved ones. Her millions of fans poured in wishes for the singer on her special day and social media was flooded with birthday wishes.

The legendary singer is quite active on social media, and her Instagram is filled with vibrant throwback pictures from her career and personal life. Lata is one of the most loved and celebrated singers of Bollywood who has given her exceptionally melodious voice to thousands of songs throughout her career. From romantic melodies to feet-tapping numbers, one can make out the versatility of her voice from the songs she has sung.

She is also the recipient of several awards such as Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke, and many more National Film Awards. She is lovingly called the nightingale of India. In 1947, the Guinness Book Of Records ranked her as the most-recorded artist in history. The singer has reportedly sung over 25,000 songs between 1948 and 1974. She is also a recipient of India’s highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna in 2001.
