Team India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant was the star of the show for the visitors on the first day of the rescheduled Test match against England, however, the head coach of the side, Rahul Dravid was not far off from stealing the limelight. Dravid, who is known as a calm and very reserved personality was up and about in the dressing room the moment Pant reached the three-figure mark.
Dravid had his hands up in the air in delight with a roar as the video of his celebration has gone viral on social media. Many suggested that if Dravid has come up with this reaction, it must be something special and Pant’s innings wasn’t any less.
Seeing Dravid’s reaction, former India and Karnataka cricketer Dodda Ganesh responded on a lighter note saying that the last time Dravid screamed like that, he was batting in the middle. Ganesh, who has represented Karnataka in 104 first-class games and 89 List-A, has played alongside Dravid for Karnataka and also represented India in 4 Tests and ODI. The 49-year-old, however, didn’t mention which game and when did it happen.
“On a lighter note. The last time Rahul Dravid screamed like this from the dressing room, I was batting in the middle #CricketTwitter #INDvENG,” he tweeted.
But Pant century made sure that Dravid’s reaction became immortal and many couldn’t believe that it was actually him celebrating like that and it showed how much this innings meant to the team after being 5 down for 98 runs. Pant was also under a little pressure coming into this game given his white-ball form wasn’t upto the mark scoring just 58 runs in four games against South Africa and having an IPL season without a fifty.
India will now hope from Ravindra Jadeja, who is unbeaten on 83 and the lower order to add 35-40 runs to post a huge challenge in front of the English side.
