Reacting to recent targeted killings of civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Manish Tewari on Sunday said that a larger pan Islamist agenda is at work in South Asia.
“Is there a link between killing of Non-Muslims in Kashmir, Hindus in Bangladesh and massive infiltration in Poonch leaving nine Jawans dead? Perhaps so. A larger Pan Islamist agenda is at work in South Asia (sic),” the Congress MP said in a tweet.
His remarks came a day after the terrorists fired upon two non-local labourers in Srinagar and Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir, out of which, a non-local vendor was shot dead by militants in the Eidgah area of Srinagar.
Arvind Kumar, a resident of Bihar, was shot at by the ultras outside a park at Eidgah in the city, a police official said. He said Kumar died on the spot.
In another incident, militants fired at and critically injured Saghir Ahmad, a carpenter hailing from Uttar Pradesh, in Pulwama district, the official said. Ahmad succumbed to injuries in a hospital, he added.
Two Hindus killed in communal violence in Bangladesh
Tewari also referred to the killings of Hindus in Bangladesh in his tweet as part of the Islamist agenda.
At least seven people were killed after deadly communal violence broke out in Bangladesh after allegations of the desecration of an Islamic holy book led to dozens of Hindu temples being attacked and police opening fire on a crowd.
Two Hindu men were among those killed in the violence, while more than 100 belonging to the minority community in Bangladesh were injured across the country.
