Land For Jobs Scam Case- Delhi Court Reserves Order On Charges Against Lalu Prasad Yadav And Others

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court  reserved its order on the charges in the Land for jobs case against RJD Supremo and former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav and others. The CBI has filed a charge sheet accusing them of allegedly allotting jobs in the Railways in exchange for land. The court is expected to pronounce its order on October 13.

Lalu Yadav on Monday had sought quashing of the CBI FIR in the case arguing in the Delhi High Court that it was registered without requisite sanction. Yadav’s senior counsel argued that ‘Land for Job’ is a politically motivated case. There is no evidence to show that jobs were given to candidates in lieu of land. There are sale deeds which show that lands were purchased for money. Senior advocate Maninder Singh appeared through video conferencing for Lalu Prasad Yadav and submitted that “there was no violation of any rule for appointment, and there were no jobs given for land”.

On August 28, the arguments on behalf of Rabri Devi were concluded. Earlier, on August 19, it was submitted that Rabri Devi purchased land and paid money for it. It was stated that, “Buying land for money is not a crime. No favour was given to any accused candidate. These transactions are not connected”.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had dismissed a plea moved by RJD Chief seeking to stay the trial court proceedings in land for jobs scam case registered by the CBI. The case alleges that Yadav granted railway jobs in exchange for land parcels, which were transferred to his family or associates during his tenure from 2004 to 2009.
