Kya ho gaya bro’: Shoaib Akhtar takes sly dig at Irfan Pathan for ‘grace’ tweet after India’s T20 WC exit

While the world was waiting for an India-Pakistan final, England decided to play spoilsport as they defeated India by a massive margin of 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The Jos Buttler-led England have booked their place in the big final on Sunday (November 13) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Pakistan in what will be a repeat of a match-up between the two teams at the same venue in the summit clash of the 1992 Cricket World Cup final.
Following India’s defeat, reactions flew quickly from across the world including Pakistan. While many were critical of Team India’s timid performance, ex-Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar took a sly dig at former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan for his tweet post the Babar Azam-led side’s victory in the semi-final against New Zealand.
In a cryptic tweet, Pathan had tweeted that while victories and losses keep happening, one needs to understand grace. “Padosiyon jeet ati jaati rehti hai, lekin GRACE apke bas ki baat nahi hai,” wrote Pathan on Twitter. “Haha. Thodi badatamizi stadium mein or uska reaction. Baaki u know me manage to hum hi karte hai. Lots of love brother,” he added.
“Haha. Thodi badatamizi stadium mein or uska reaction. Baaki u know me manage to hum hi karte hai. Lots of love brother,” Pathan replied explaining his tweet.
In another tweet, Pathan had stated that he had gone to sign autographs for Pakistan fans at the SCG but they started to abuse him. The 2007 T20 World Cup winner is part of the Hindi commentary team for the big event and has travelled to Australia for the tournament.
India had beaten Pakistan in the Super 12 stage in a memorable match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) which saw Virat Kohli play one of his all-time best knocks.
