KPSS urges Kashmiri Pandits to vacate Kashmir, says govt has failed in providing security

Kashmiri Pandit Sangharash Samiti (KPSS)  slammed the government for ‘failing’ in providing security to the Kashmiri Pandits and asked the community members to leave the Valley in the wake of attacks on them by the terrorists.
Speaking to news agency PTI, KPSS chief Sanjay Tickoo said, “We have seen this for the last 32 years now. The government has failed in providing security to the minorities, especially Kashmiri Pandits. How long are we going to die like this? Enough is enough.”
Expressing anger over the killing of a local Kashmiri Pandit by the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday, Tickoo said that with the deadly attack on the minority community in the Valley, the terrorists have made it clear that they are going to kill all the Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.
The KPSS chief claimed that the victims of August 16 attack had asked the government officials to move them to safer places after intelligence inputs suggested that terrorists might target more Kashmiri Pandits.
“It is ironic that the officials told them that they have to live in their villages. What is the deal here? They have inputs about possible attacks and yet they do not secure us,” he said.
The KPSS vented its anger after a Kashmiri Pandit was shot dead and his brother injured by terrorists in an apple orchard in Shopian.
“Terrorists fired upon civilians in an apple orchard in Chotipora area of #Shopian. One person died and one injured. Both belong to minority community. Injured person has been shifted to hospital. Area #cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” police said.
