Before making a mark in the Hindi film industry, actress Konkona Sen Sharma worked as a child artist in Bengali films. Konkana, who originally hails from Kolkata, made her Bollywood debut with filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s movie, Page 3, which was released in 2005. Ever since the actress has been experimenting and entertaining her fans with her unconventional movies.
The actress lets her films do all the talking. And while it may seem that Konkona must have struggled hard to work in the industry once she moved to Mumbai, the scenario is quite different in her case.
During a recent interaction with Times Now Digital, Konkona said she has been very lucky when it comes to working in the city of dreams, Mumbai.
“The thing is that I have been very lucky. I have been really privileged and blessed, so it is not the usual story because my mother is a pretty well-respected director, actress, etc. Perhaps because of that, I wasn’t taken undue advantage of. Another thing was that I wasn’t ever really dying to be an actor,” the actress mentioned.
Konkona added that since she was already doing a lot of work in Mumbai, she thought she would get a real job in the city and do something else. But since she didn’t invest in the same a lot, she didn’t have to struggle, unlike the struggling stories that she has heard about from friends and people who have faced hardships.
“And it is inherently an unequal and unjust system. Most systems are. I already knew that it’s not like that the people who are truly talented, are getting their due anyway or are getting their awards anyway. So I already knew it’s a skewed system anyway, to begin with. So, I had very low expectations. Generally, I am very handy in life. Because if you just keep your expectations low, then anything that happens is a bonus. So, that’s great,” added Konkona.
On the work front, Konkona will be seen in director Nikkhil Advani’s series, Mumbai Diaries: 26/11, which is set against the backdrop of the Mumbai 26/11 terror attack
The synopsis of the series on IMDB reads: “Mumbai Diaries is a medical thriller set in the Emergency Room of a hospital. The series explores the challenges faced by the medical staff at the hospital as well as other first responders across the city of Mumbai.”
The series, which will be releasing on September 9, also features Mohit Raina, Shreya Dhanwanthary, and other actors.
