Team India skipper Rohit Sharma is known for his wit and dry humour, especially when he is talking to media. In the past, Rohit has lightened the press room with hilarious responses and comments and Sunday was no different.
Rohit, who came to address the media ahead of India’s three-match T20I series against Australia, was asked by a reporter about the skipper’s ‘team is 90-95 per cent settled’ comment and then asked one more question about the legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami, who is set to retire from international cricket after the ongoing ODI series against England women.
Rohit was about to respond, but passed a comment saying, “Kitney sawaal puchtey ho? (How many questions do you ask?)” in his usual cheeky tone with a chuckle.
Rohit had mentioned during the Asia Cup 2022 after defeat to Sri Lanka that the despite two losses back-to-back against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the combination is more or less settled. “It’s 90-95 per cent settled, just a few changes that will happen,” Rohit had said on September 6.
Rohit also shut down the grapevine regarding KL Rahul not being a preferred as an opener owing to the opener’s own form and in the aftermath of how Virat Kohli slammed a quickfire century against Afghanistan while opening the batting, there have been calls for the current and former captains to open together.
However, Rohit said that Rahul will open and Kohli is only the third opener in the side. “Rahul will open for us at the T20 World Cup. We are not going to experiment with that position a lot. His performances often go noticed. He is a very important player for India.
“If you look at his performances over last two three years, it has been very good. I want to make it clear to everyone that we have absolute clarity on this and kya khichdi pak rahi hain we know it very well. There is no confusion,” the 35-year-old added.
