Kerala govt is lying and misleading people about Centre’s approval for SilverLine project: V Muraleedharan

Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan launched a scathing attack on the Kerala government over the SilverLine rail project accusing it of lying and misleading people about Centre’s approval for the SilverLine rail project.
“Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is trying to mislead the people of Kerala. Government of India has made it clear both on the floor of the house and court of law that Central government has not given any type of approval except that they have been asked to submit the Detailed Project Report,” said Muraleedharan.
Alleging that the Kerala government is lying by claiming that the central government has given some sort of permission to the project, the Union Minister said that they are doing it only to hoodwink the people of Kerala.
‘Stop misleading the people and stop spreading such blatant lies’
The state government should stop lying to the people, should stop misleading the people and should stop spreading such blatant lies, he added.
This strong statement from the minister comes after the Central government informed the High Court of Kerala that the state government has not been provided with any approval for proceeding with the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) or stone laying in the private lands for the SilverLine semi-high-speed rail project.
K-Rail will be an environmental disaster for Kerala: ‘Metroman’ Sreedharan
The saffron party’s Kerala unit has planned an agitation against Vijayan’s proposed dream project appointing ‘metroman’ E. Sreedharan to lead them.
The veteran, who had contested as a BJP candidate in the April 2021 assembly polls from Palakkad and lost, has said that if SilverLine semi-high-speed rail project is implemented, it will become an environmental disaster for Kerala.
The 529-km SilverLine railway project will link Thiruvananthapuram in the south to Kasaragod in north Kerala, covering 11 districts through 11 stations.
The project is also being opposed by Congress-led UDF, which has been alleging that it is “unscientific and impractical” and will put a huge financial burden on the state.
