Kerala govt hints at ‘reviewing’ Governor’s actions; he laughs it off with ‘ignorants ruling the state’ jibe

A day after Kerala Law Minister P Rajeeve suggested that he will review Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s actions, the latter  hit back saying the coastal state is being run by “ignorants”. He also lashed out at Finance Minister KN Balagopal alleging his main source of revenue is alcohol and lottery.
Launching a blistering attack on the Kerala government, Khan said the state is replacing Punjab as the “capital of drugs” as the state promotes the sale of liquor. “Here, we have decided that the lottery and alcohol are enough for our development. What a shameful situation for a state which has 100 per cent literacy,” he said.
Governor Khan further alleged that the state finance minister, “whose main source of revenue is alcohol and lottery”, is raising the question whether the governor who is from UP can understand the Kerala education system… “But I would advise him that don’t make the same comment about the judges of Supreme Court.”
“Yesterday they (SC) gave a judgement against your appointment of VC of Kerala Technical University… If you say that these judges are from Maharashtra and Assam and they do not understand the education system in Kerala, then you will land yourself in trouble,” said Kerala Governor AM Khan.
Hitting out at the Kerala Law Minister’s remarks that he will review the Governor’s actions, Khan said, “As a governor, I am here to review their actions. They are appointed by me. It means he is not familiar with the provisions of Constitution. Because brilliant people leave the state because you have these ignorants ruling it.”
Kerala Governor, who is at loggerheads with the state government, continues to question the State over various issues related to employment and implementation of policies.
