Following a recent conflict between Indian and Chinese troops in the Tawang region of Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called for a ban on commerce with China and urged Indians to do the same on Sunday.
“I appeal to everyone to stop buying Chinse goods. I also want to appeal to the centre to not bow down before China,” CM Kejriwal said.
On Sunday, CM Kejriwal reaffirmed his position on the trade embargo with China and urged the central government to maintain its position.
The chief minister of Delhi was addressing at the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) national council meeting, when topics including inflation, unemployment, and poverty were discussed, along with Chinese aggression at the border.
Observing the circumstances surrounding the Tawang clash, which Indian soldiers prevented, the AAP chief stated, “China has been threatening us for the last few years. Our jawans are bravely fighting the Chinese and some have even made sacrifices.”
He claimed that despite everything, India is expanding its commerce with China. Our knowledge of China’s occupation of our territories comes from social media, but the central government is rewarding China. Our imports from China are rising, according to Kejriwal.
Giving specifics, the Delhi CM stated that China accounted for 65 billion dollars in imports in 2020–21 and 95 billion dollars in 2021–22 from India. China will learn a lesson the day we cease 95-billion-dollar imports, he declared.
Centre’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not immediately respond to the Delhi CM’s attack.
