Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal continued his tirade against the BJP over targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley and appealed to the Centre to provide them security.
“The massacre that is happening with Kashmiri Pandits is not right. In the last 30 years, Kashmiri Pandits had to migrate twice and both happened when BJP was in power. I would appeal to the government to take whatever step needs to be taken and provide them security,” Kejriwal said.
On Sunday, the AAP chief claimed Kashmiri Pandits are being forced to leave the Valley, a repeat of what happened in the 1990s, due to the targeted killings of minorities and called for an action plan to stop such incidents.
Addressing the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) ‘Jan Aakrosh Rally’ at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, he said this shows the BJP cannot handle Kashmir and only knows how to do dirty politics.
Whenever the BJP is in power in Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiri Pandits are forced to leave the Valley, he alleged.
Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a spike in incidents of targeted killings since May this year. The spate of targeted killings included that of Rahul Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit, who was shot dead inside the tehsildar’s office in Chadoora tehsil of Budgam district.
“The BJP government has failed to provide security to Kashmiri Pandits. They do not have any plan but just hold meetings. Many meetings were held on the issue and now everyone wants to know the action plan,” he said.
“Whenever a killing takes place in Kashmir, it is said that the Union home minister is holding a high-level meeting. But where is the action plan? What is the plan? Kashmir wants an action plan,” he added, PTI reported.
Hitting back at Kejriwal, Union minister Anurag Thakur accused him of “politicising” the targeted killings in Jammu and Kashmir at a time when all sections of the society were standing firm with the people of the Union territory.
“At a time when the entire nation is standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and condemning the acts of terror, Kejriwal has not spoken a word of condemnation against the separatist forces,” he said in a statement.
“Those who question the valour of armed forces and join hands with anti-national Khalistani forces for the sake of power, with what face will they condemn terror?” he asked.
