Despite Congress telling its party members to refrain from openly discussing chief ministerial candidate, Siddaramaiah and his supporters have been openly backing him for the post of CM.
His supporter Byrathi Suresh openly told a gathering that the state wants Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister once again. “The people of this state want to see Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister again. I pray that with all your blessings may Congress come to power soon and Siddaramaiah becomes CM,” he said.
Byrathi Suresh made the comment during an event organised by him in the constituency he is expected to contest from
The remark comes amid a warning by the Congress high command to both Siddarmaiah and Shivakumar to work together. The Congress high command also ruled against the proposed plan for Shivkumar and Siddaramaiah to travel separately.
He had also made similar remark on Sunday at an event to mark Kanakadasa Jayanti in Bengaluru. The Hebbal MLA declared the Congress Legislature Party leader Siddarmaiah as the “next CM”. The announcement came in the presence of Siddaramaiah.
Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar also hinted that he would like to run for the CM if Congress gives him a chance.
“The (Vokkaliga) community has a great opportunity this time that shouldn’t be lost,” DK Shivakumar said at a meeting of Vokkaligas convened to discuss the community’s reservation demand on Sunday. “If the community gives me a pen and paper, I will do all the work that needs to be done.”
