Ahead of the upcoming 2023 Karnataka Assembly election, Gadag Police seized huge amount of cash which was being transported to influence voters. The cash was seized from various check posts.
reported that Rs 15 lakhs and Ganja was recovered from Mundargi checkpost, while 1.75 crore worth of Gold items were seized from Gadag rural check post. The police seized Rs 24 lakh from Basapur checkpost.
Photos of the seized cash and jewellery items showed that several gold necklaces and Rs 500 currency noted were recovered by the officials. Packets of ganja were also seized.
Several other photos showed police detaining the people carrying the cash, jewellery and ganja in tempo and autorickshaw.
The arrested people were also clicked at the police station with huge amount of cash being displayed infront of them.
