The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections alone. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the BJP would contest alone and form the government on its own in Karnataka.
The Union Home Minister made these comments while addressing the meeting of booth presidents and booth-level agents in Bengaluru. He refuted reports that the BJP would make an alliance with the Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023.
Shah said, “Today I am also appealing to the people of Karnataka to not get misled on three-way contest in elections. It is a two-way competition and we are not going to be aligning with any party in the state and JDS is spreading lies that they are in coalition with BJP.”
While lashing out at the Congress, Shah stated the power for the grand old party is a tool for Corruption, but the power for the BJP is a tool for bringing prosperity and empowerment. He lauded the Bommai Basavaraja-led Karnataka government in the state.
“Under the guidance of our PM Modi Ji, Shri Yediyurappa Ji and Basavaraja Ji have given good governance to Karnataka. I call upon the Karyakartas to ensure that the BJP comes to power with 2/3rd of the majority like that of Gujarat,” Shah said.
The Union Home Minister also slammed the Congress and the JDS for withdrawing cases against members of the banned organisation, Popular front of India (PFI). He stated, “It was Modiji who led from the front and banned PFI for their unlawful activities against the country On another side Siddaramaiah and Kumarswamy are those who withdrew cases registered against 1,700 members of PFI.”
Notably, Shah is one two-day visit to Karnataka. He reached Bengaluru late Thursday evening. The Assembly Elections in Karnataka are scheduled to take place in May 2023.
