Commuters who travel between Lucknow and Kanpur will get a gift in the form of an expressway. The eight-lane Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway is likely to be open to the public in 2025.
As per media reports, more than half of the work has been completed on the expressway. It will connect two cities Lucknow and Kanpur, but will enhance connectivity in the state. The greenfield route has been completed and 75 % work has been completed on the elevated road, as per media reports.
As per media reports, previously the expressway was to be opened on July 2025, but it got an update. Now the project will get completed by March 2025.
Currently, it takes around 3 hours to reach Lucknow from Kanpur. But after construction of this new route, this will take only 35 to 45 minutes.
About The Project
The Kanpur-Lucknow expressway will be operational and open to the public in 2025. Previously, it was planned to make it a six-lane expressway. The length of this route is 63 kilometres. However, later it got an upgrade that the expressway will have eight lanes.
The reported cost of the project is Rs 4,700 crore. It will boost the tourism in the state. Apart from this the expressway will reduce the travel time. It will make the journey comfortable for the commuters.
The route will be connected to the Lucknow Ring road. The expressway will begin from Shaheed Path located in Lucknow and will go till Nawabganj located in Kanpur. It will cross Banthra, Bani, Datouli Kantha, Taura, Nyaurana, Amarsas and Rawal Marg.
A total of three big bridges will be developed. Not only this, but the expressway will have 28 small bridges, 38 underpasses and 6 6 flyovers.
