Unfazed by the debacle of Dhaakad, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up to wow the audience with her second directorial venture, Emergency. The film is currently in the pre-production stage with Kangana and her team finalising locations, costumes, and set design, among other things.
Kangana has been taking to Instagram stories to share regular updates regarding Emergency. She most recently updated her fans with the news that Academy Award-winning artist David Malinowski has joined her ambitious venture.
David, a renowned special effects makeup artist, took home a BAFTA trophy in 2018. At the 90th Academy Awards, he won the award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for his work in Darkest Hour. He has also been associated with several mega projects such as Wonder Woman 1984, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, among others.
Now, the Oscar-winner is collaborating with Kangana and will be transforming her into Indira Gandhi. Sharing the news of David joining Emergency, Kangana wrote, “Welcome to the team Emergency @djmalinowski,” adding, “Pleasure to have academy award winning artist for character transformation in Emergency.”
She also shared an image with prosthetics on her face and wrote, “Exciting transformation for my second directorial #Emergency.”
Meanwhile, Emergency will be Kangana’s second film as a director after Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. The actress took to the social media application Koo to announce the political drama last year.
“Pleased to wear director’s hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me. Collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it, my excitement is high,” Kangana had written.
