Japanese PM likely to announce a plan to invest USD 42 billion in India
The annual summit between Prime Minister Modi and his then Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe was cancelled in December 2019 in Guwahati in the wake of massive protests rocking the Assam capital over the amended citizenship law.
The summit could not be held in 2020 as well as in 2021 primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Japanese PM is likely to announce a plan to invest USD 42 billion in India over the five years, during his visit to the country on Saturday, according to a media report.
Kishida’s visit to India is significant amid sanctions against Russia for its military operation in Ukraine while the major oil-consuming countries are keeping a close watch on the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on oil prices.
