Delhi’s Patiala High Court has granted pre-arrest bail to actor Jacqueline Fernandez in Rs 200 crore extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. She has been granted bail on Rs 2 lakh bail bond.
The actress can now travel abroad with prior permission of court.
Jacqueline Fernandez reached Delhi’s Patiala House Court earlier today. The case is being probed by the Enforcement Directorate against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar.
The order was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge Shailender Malik, who had reserved the decision last week.
Earlier on November 10, the court had asked the Enforcement Directorate why it had not arrested the actress despite issuing a Lookout Circular (LOC) against her.
“Why haven’t you arrested Jacqueline yet despite issuing an LOC? Other accused are in jail. Why adopt a pick-and-choose policy?” the court asked the Enforcement Directorate.
The ED had issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) against Jacqueline Fernandez in December last year. The actress has been questioned by the ED in multiple sessions in connection with the over Rs 200 crore money laundering case.
Arguing against her application, the ED had said that she would attempt to flee the country if the court grants her a bail. ED also alleged that “despite knowing about Sukesh, she enjoyed the proceeds of crime.”
