The Israeli military said it killed three senior Hamas militants in strikes on a marked safe zone in southern Gaza. Strikes hit a densely packed tent camp in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis where displaced Palestinians were staying, killing at least 19 people and leaving others buried under rubble, according to Gaza health officials.
Video Shows Burning Tents After Israel ‘Precise Strike’
A video shared on social media platforms appeared to show a number of burning tents and craters in the ground, apparently from the strikes. The Israeli military said it had attacked the area, describing it as a “precise strike” against senior Hamas militants who operated from within a command centre inside the humanitarian zone in Khan Younis, according to Xinhua news agency.
Israeli Strikes Kill Senior Hamas Militants, Target Mosque Command Center
The Israeli military stated that the strikes killed Samer Ismail Khadr Abu Daqqa, Osama Tabesh, and Ayman Mabhouh—three senior Hamas militants. They were involved in the October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel and had recently been planning terror activities against the Israel Defense Forces and the State of Israel.
The Israeli army later targeted the Al-Farouq Mosque in the Bureij refugee camp, aiming to destroy a Hamas command and control center inside. The Palestinian news agency Quds News reported casualties and injuries, but the exact number is unclear.
