The Israeli military launched strikes in Lebanon  to counter a potential threat from Hezbollah, an Iran-backed terror group. In retaliation, Hezbollah fired over 150 rockets from Lebanon into Israel. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in response to the death of its military commander, Fuad Shukr.

Israel Declares 48-Hour Emergency

Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based group, stated that it targeted a specific military site, Israel’s Iron Dome platforms, and other locations, but mentioned that its full response would take time, according to Reuters. In response, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared a 48-hour emergency in Israel.

After the IDF carried out preemptive strikes, Gallant spoke with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. Gallant stated that Israel conducted precise strikes in Lebanon to prevent an imminent threat to its citizens. He added that Israel is monitoring the situation in Beirut and is committed to using all available resources to protect its people, according to The Times of Israel.

PM Netanyahu Leads Crisis Meeting

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is leading a high-level meeting at a secret location to discuss the escalating situation in the north, according to local Israeli media.

The IDF reported that they had detected Hezbollah’s preparations to launch “missiles and rockets” at Israeli territory.

Israel has declared a 48-hour emergency due to rising tensions with Lebanon, as reported by The Times of Israel. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced the emergency, allowing the IDF Home Front Command to impose restrictions.

Israel Targets Hezbollah Sites In 48-Hour Emergency

The IDF warned residents in southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah operates, to “leave immediately” before launching strikes. The Israeli military said that fighter jets are targeting Hezbollah sites that pose an immediate threat to the country. They also announced that life-saving instructions will be issued in some areas based on the Home Front Command’s assessment.
