Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray replayed his ultimatum once again citing that if loudspeakers are not removed from mosques by the 3rd of May 2022, he will take matters into his own hands. Speaking on the threat by the Popular Front of India (PFI), the MNS supremo stressed that they can also retaliate in the same manner but they just want peace.
“We want peace. No one has opposed the offering of prayers. But if you (Muslims) do it on loudspeaker, then we’ll also use loudspeakers for it. Muslims should understand that religion isn’t bigger than the law,” Raj Thackeray said.
The MNS chief further urged Hindus to wait till the 3rd of May and then proceed to install loudspeakers blaring Hanuman Chalisa in full volume in front of the mosques which refused to comply with the demand. “We will play the Hanuman Chalisa as many times they will play offer namaaz or play azaan on loudspeakers,” Raj Thackeray said.
‘Enough is enough’
When counter questioned that Home Minister, Amit Shah earlier stated that playing azaan on loudspeakers is not illegal, only the decibel level should be maintained, Raj Thackeray questioned if the mosques have permission to use loudspeakers. The MNS supremo asked that just like permission from authorities is needed to use loudspeakers in political rallies and religious processions, do mosques have permission to play azaan on loudspeakers every day?
“Enough is enough. Muslims should understand that this is not a religious issue, this is a social issue,” Raj Thackeray added.
Jahangirpuri violence
Speaking on the violence in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri during the Hanuman Jayanti procession, Raj Thackeray advocated the ‘tit for tat’ policy. “I think that such things should be answered in a similar manner, otherwise, those people will not understand,” he said.
