The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for gifting the Russian edition of the Bhagavad Gita to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his recent visit to New Delhi.

Speaking on X, Radharamn Das, Vice President and spokesperson of ISKCON Kolkata, said, ‘Thank you, Shri @narendramodi ji, for gifting ISKCON’s Russian edition of the Bhagavad Gita to @KremlinRussia_E. To date, ISKCON has distributed more than 60 crore copies of the Gita worldwide in over 110 languages. We would be happy to supply copies in all available languages for further distribution. Hare Krishna.’

This gesture reflects ISKCON’s ongoing mission of spreading the spiritual teachings of the Gita across the globe. The organisation has made the scripture accessible in hundreds of languages, touching millions of lives with its universal message of wisdom and devotion.

Warm welcome for Putin during his Delhi visit

President Putin’s trip to India was his first in four years and focused on strengthening bilateral relations. PM Modi greeted him with a warm hug at Palam airport, a rare gesture highlighting the significance of the visit. Cultural performances, including traditional dances, were also held to welcome the Russian President.

During his nearly 27-hour stay, Putin was hosted to a private dinner by PM Modi, echoing the hospitality extended to the Indian Prime Minister during his visit to Moscow last year. The prime minister’s residence was adorned with flowers and lights, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Sharing a photo of the moment on X, PM Modi wrote, ‘Presented a copy of the Gita in Russian to President Putin. The teachings of the Gita give inspiration to millions across the world.’ ISKCON’s acknowledgement underscores the importance of cultural diplomacy and spiritual goodwill alongside political engagement, reinforcing the strong ties between India and Russia.
